Board of Trustees

The Avonside Girls High School Board of Trustees works in partnership with school management and is responsible for performing the governance and control functions. Specifically these include being:

  • the employer of all staff in the school
  • responsible for setting the school's strategic direction in consultation with parents, staff and students, and is
  • responsible for providing a safe environment and quality education for all our students.

We also have oversight of the management of personnel, curriculum, property, and finance including all school assets. We have sub-committees that meet either monthly or as required for each of these areas. The full Board usually meets on the first Wednesday of the month and these are public meetings. They are held in the meeting room at the school and usually begin at 5.30pm.

Currently our Board has eleven members. It includes; five elected parent representatives (one of whom is also elected as the chairperson), an elected student representative, an elected staff representative, our school’s Principal and Executive Officer together with one of the schools three Deputy Principals and our secretary.

Avonside Girls High School is a big organisation which is well run due to excellent staff and management from within the school and the current strong skill base of individuals on the Board.
