Steps for Enrolment

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Avonside Girls’ High School is a popular school and is frequently oversubscribed. The Board operates an enrolment scheme to prevent overcrowding or the likelihood of overcrowding at the school. Each year the Board will determine the number of places that are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

Effective 1 March 2021.

The guidelines for the development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.

Avonside Girls’ High School Board of Trustees has opted into the $150 donations scheme offered by the Government. This means our Board will not be asking parents for contributions for delivery of the curriculum unless there is an overnight or take-home component.

Payment options are:

  • Eftpos
  • Cash
  • Internet banking: ASB 123240 0108065 00 with student ID number as the reference

Avonside has been moving progressively towards BYOD – each student brings their own device for learning at school. Since the beginning of 2019, all students are expected to bring their own devices for learning. A Windows device is the most suitable for our environment.

Chromebooks and iPads (unless with keyboard and pencil) are not suitable devices for use at AGHS.
