Avonside Girls’ High provide a physiotherapy service for students and staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Sick Bay.  Appointments can be made in the Hauora Centre with Ms Cooper or online at www.balancephysiotherapy.co.nz

Physiotherapy provided at school means less academic time lost and no travel costs or time.  You can get early treatment of your injuries and have less time out of the sport or activities you are involved with.

Sharada Stewart from Balance Physiotherapy has a Master’s degree in Sports Physiotherapy and is experienced in sports physiotherapy and injury management in the adolescent age group.   We can also consult with coaches and PE staff to help you get the correct level of activity as you recover. There is no need to be referred by a doctor but if the physiotherapist feels a GP or specialist needs to be consulted or X-rays taken, she can organise this at assessment.  Get treated early for a good recovery!

ACC still subsidise accident related physiotherapy treatment and we can initiate your ACC claim for you.   The co-payments are $25.00 per treatment. We also treat non-ACC cases.

For more information or to make an appointment contact Ms Cooper in the Hauora Centre phone: 929 0685  or Balance Physiotherapy:  phone 021 742 723, email info@balancephysio.co.nz, or book online at www.balancephysio.co.nz

CULTURAL

Cultural Opportunities

Students are encouraged to take the opportunities offered to develop their talents and explore their interests in a wide variety of cultural activities. Many of these require a commitment to seeing things through to a conclusion, whether it is for a performance, presentation or display or just for the satisfaction of the student. We are keen for students to take the plunge and try something new.

THE ARTS

Art Opportunities

At Avonside we offer a wide variety of opportunities connected to the arts. We encourage students to explore new activities that they are interested in and to expand their skills base in activities where they are already experienced. Many of the groups and activities meet on set lunchtimes each week, while some groups meet after school on identified days. Students need to read the school notices for information related to the groups or make contact with the relevant arts teacher to find out important information. Our aim is to encourage your participation, so do not be afraid to get involved even if you are a beginner!!
