Katherine Sheppard, New Zealand’s most prominent suffragist, whose efforts paved the way for women’s right to vote, inspired this pou/kōwhaiwhai.
COOPER
This pou/kōwhaiwhai design is inspired by the life and legacy of Dame Whina Cooper, a revered kuia and activist.
MANSFIELD
This pou reflects the life and work of Katherine Mansfield, one of New Zealand’s most influential modernist writers.
BATTEN
Batten honors the legacy of Jean Batten, New Zealand’s most celebrated aviator, who became a global icon in the 1930s through her record-breaking solo flights.
