Kia Ora Koutou

We are coming to the end of what has been a very busy term. The highlight is finishing this week with our shared production of Mamma Mia.

I want to thank all our students, staff and community for the energy and dedication to learning, sport, cultural, arts and service opportunities for our students. We are so proud of what our students have achieved and we cannot do this without community support. Whether it is dropping everything at 2.30pm on a Wednesday to take a group of students to a game or coming in all day on a Sunday to weave for Kapa haka uniforms, your commitment is valued and appreciated. We are just beginning our work to create a parent group/association for those who would like to become more involved with the school. More on this will appear soon.

Please do read the articles in this newsletter – some for immediate reading (Media/Attitude Reports) and others for over the break (AI/Assessment). All are important communication for our whanau. I hope that your family enjoy time together and your young person/people at our kura have a good break before term 3.

Uniform Updates

We are aware that some students are waiting for the Ie. These should be in the shop by the end of July.

SKIRTS

In term 3 we will continue our focus on students wearing uniform correctly to, from and in school. The uniform is set by the Board of Trustees and that includes the length of the skirts. All students who choose the skirt will be expected to unroll their skirt and ensure that it is the length seen in the uniform policy – to the knee or just above the knee. https://www.avonside.school.nz/enrolment/uniform/

Please have a conversation with your young person about this. If they have cut their skirt or hemmed it, they will need to get this sorted for term 3. Please get in touch if there are any issues – we will have skirts available in hauora.

Courses for Parents

Our courses for parents will continue in Term 3 so look out for the advertisements for them.
