Applications Open (All Levels) – May 30 Applications Close (All Levels) – July 25 Ballot held – July 30
Notification of Offer of Place for Year 9- July 31, after Ballot is held. Last day for acceptance/decline – August 11

SCHOOL INFORMATION

Uniform Requirements

The Avonside Girls’ High School | Te Kura Kohine o Ōtakaro Board values and consequently places a high priority on all students wearing our school uniform correctly, both inside and outside the kura because it contributes to:

  1. The kura value of Respect-Whakaute
  2. Students developing personal self-confidence and pride in self
  3. Students developing personal commitment and organisational skills
  4. School pride, social cohesion and a sense of community
  5. Community recognition and pride of Avonside Girls’ High School | Te Kura Kohine o Ōtakaro

 

Consequently, students are to be in correct school uniform when:

  1. At school
  2. Travelling to and from school (with the exception of wet weather and safety gear)
  3. Representing or associated with the school on any school-related event or trip when school uniform is to be worn
Steps for Enrolment

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Effective 1 March 2021.

The guidelines for the development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.

Enrolment Scheme

Avonside Girls’ High School Board of Trustees has opted into the $150 donations scheme offered by the Government. This means our Board will not be asking parents for contributions for delivery of the curriculum unless there is an overnight or take-home component.

We use the payment platform of Kindo, it is very easy to set up your MyKindo account and any payables or shop items can be purchased using it. You can sign up for Kindo here: https://www.avonside.school.nz/mykindo-payments/ .

To ensure your daughter is well prepared for the start of the year, we suggest she has all her stationery before the school year begins.

Each student brings their own device for learning at school. A Windows device is the most suitable for our environment.

Chromebooks and iPads (unless with keyboard and pencil) are not suitable devices for use at AGHS.

STATIONERY REQUIREMENTS

SPEC runs two programmes that are 60 credit NZQA approved qualifications that are not NCEA. The first is New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners, where the students choose from 12 interest modules and complete tasks related to the interest area.
